Former Nigerian footballer Obafemi Martins has expressed his desire for his son, Kevin Martins, to represent Nigeria in international football. Kevin, a 19-year-old forward, is eligible to play for three countries: Nigeria through his father, Ghana through his mother, and Italy by birth.

In a recent interview, Martins stated that he hopes his son will choose to play for Nigeria, citing his own experiences playing for the Super Eagles. "Hopefully yes. I mean he's half-Nigerian so we will see," Martins said. "When I used to play (for Nigeria), we have a lot of strikers that scored goals…. We played as a team."

Kevin Martins is currently playing for Serie A club Monza and has already made a name for himself in the football world. He has been capped by the Italian Football Federation at the U-15 level, but is not yet provisionally cap-tied to Italy. This means that he is still eligible to play for Nigeria or Ghana.

Martins' preference for his son to play for Nigeria is not surprising, given his own successful career with the Super Eagles. He scored 18 goals in 42 appearances for Nigeria and is considered one of the country's greatest footballers.

However, the decision ultimately rests with Kevin, who has a difficult choice to make. Nigeria's Super Eagles, Ghana's Black Stars, and Italy's La Nazionale all have strong claims to his services, and each country has its own unique footballing traditions and competitive advantages.

As Kevin Martins continues to develop his skills and gain experience playing for Monza, fans of all three countries will be watching his next move closely. Will he follow in his father's footsteps and play for Nigeria, or will he choose to represent Ghana or Italy? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: Kevin Martins has a bright future ahead of him in the world of football.

The young forward's family is steeped in footballing tradition. His father, Obafemi Martins, is a celebrated figure in Nigerian football, while his maternal uncle, Mario Balotelli, is a former Manchester City and Italian international striker. With such a rich footballing heritage, it is no surprise that Kevin Martins is making waves in the football world.
