Jotter, known for his viral comedy skits, is currently in Ghana for the premiere of the stage play You Play Me, I Play You, which will be directed by actor and producer Fiifi Coleman. The play, scheduled for November 8 and 9, 2024, will be staged at the National Theatre and Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra. It features a talented cast, including Ghanaian comedians Clemento Suarez and Jeneral Ntatia.
In an interview with 3FM Drive on November 1, 2024, Jotter shared his positive experience working with his Ghanaian counterparts. He particularly commended Jeneral Ntatia for his professionalism and infectious energy, noting how it made the collaboration smooth and enjoyable. “Jeneral Ntatia is making the work extremely easy. It’s more like one take, one go. All thanks to Jeneral and the director, they are making it extremely easy for us,” Jotter said.
This is Jotter’s first time participating in a stage play in Ghana, and he expressed his excitement about the opportunity. “When I got the call, I thought this was a good opportunity because a stage play in Ghana was the first of its kind to me. I did it for my fans in Ghana, and this is an opportunity to meet those people,” he added.
The play You Play Me, I Play You is a socio-cultural satire written by the late Efo Kodjo Mawugbe, a legendary Ghanaian playwright. It addresses various social issues through humor, offering a satirical view of contemporary Ghanaian life. The production, presented by Africa Arts Network, promises to be an entertaining and thought-provoking performance.
Jotter’s involvement in the play highlights the growing collaboration between Nigerian and Ghanaian entertainers. The cast, which brings together talents from both nations, exemplifies the increasing synergy between the two entertainment industries in West Africa. The blend of Nigerian and Ghanaian comedians reflects a shared creativity that is becoming more prevalent in the region.
Fans in Ghana can look forward to a memorable cultural experience as the stage play You Play Me, I Play You combines the best of both Ghanaian and Nigerian comedy. With a stellar cast and a unique satirical story, the production is set to be an engaging and highly anticipated event.
