At long last the return of kwame Poku was early that many taught, because lot of Kumasi Asante Kotoko fans would have predicted he will come from the bench to play some few minutes but no, he started against Bibiani Gold Stars basically because the two attackers were unavailable for action. Apart from kwame Poku the only other change from the last starting eleven was Patrick Aseidu who was absent due to suspension, the rest was untouched from the last victory against Dreams football club.
After an Asante Kotoko possible goal hit the hand of a Bibiani Gold Stars player, Justice Blay come up and converted beautifully on the 19th minute
Unfortunately to Bibiani Goldstars they had a player sent out in the 31st minute, and were reduced to 10 men. The returnee Kwame Poku was hoping to score on his return as he kept on probing and disturbing the back line of the western region side. Asante Kotoko had control over the game but the away side made some few dangerous attacks against the warriors. The Justice Blay 19th minute penalty gave Kotoko the lead into the dressing room.
A dejected Goldstars had lots to do in the second half, especially managing with a man down and also thinking of how to finish the game without anymore casualties. The whole game became one that looked like a one way affair, some few chances missed by Kwame Poku, but lo and behold Kwame Poku scored his goal on the 73rd minute to double the lead of Asante Kotoko. The striker was fed with a neat ball at the edge of the 18 yard box and he calmly curled it in the the far corner to put his name on the score sheet. This victory gives Asante Kotoko four victories out of four league games and five in all competitions, a perfect Christmas present for everyone sympathizer of the club.
