Kanayo O. Kanayo, the renowned Nigerian actor, recently discussed the growing societal pressure faced by single women as they approach their 30s, particularly those aged 33 and above. In an interview with News Central, Kanayo referred to this situation as a “state of emergency” for women who are older and still unmarried. He reflected on the lifestyle choices that often lead to this crisis, pointing out how many young women in their early 20s prioritize relationships with wealthy, often older men over genuine connections with younger suitors.

These women, according to Kanayo, are drawn to the luxuries that come with dating affluent men, such as expensive gifts, cars, and lavish lifestyles. As a result, they tend to overlook younger men who may offer sincere love and the possibility of a stable future. This tendency, he explained, often leads women to neglect the potential for building long-term relationships with peers their own age. Instead, they get caught up in the allure of wealth and materialism, making it harder to form meaningful connections with other suitors.

Kanayo further elaborated on how this pattern typically continues into a woman’s mid-to-late 20s. During this time, the excitement of dating wealthy older men begins to fade, and many women find themselves realizing they have missed opportunities to develop relationships with men who could have been more suitable long-term partners. By the time they reach 30, they may find themselves single and struggling to attract suitors. The men who once found them attractive may no longer see them in the same light, and the women may feel a sense of isolation as their options for marriage dwindle.

Kanayo emphasized the increasing pressure women face when they reach their 30s, noting that by the age of 33, many women experience a crisis. At this point, they often begin to fervently pray for a partner, realizing that the carefree days of their youth are behind them. While they may have enjoyed attention in the past, Kanayo pointed out that the chances of finding a suitable partner decrease significantly as they get older. Some women, despite still enjoying aspects of their lives, may find themselves in what he described as a “state of emergency,” desperately seeking a spouse.

Kanayo’s comments shed light on the societal pressures that women face regarding marriage, highlighting the complexities of balancing personal choices and cultural expectations in modern relationships.
