Nollywood actress and box office sensation Funke Akindele has accomplished another impressive milestone with her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, which has grossed over ₦1 billion within just three weeks.
In a post on X.com on Monday, Akindele stated that Everybody Loves Jenifa is now the second Nollywood film to exceed the ₦1 billion mark in the past 12 months, with a total gross of ₦1,034,091,220.
The film has also set a new record as the fastest Nollywood film to reach ₦1 billion, executing the milestone in only 19 days.
Everybody Loves Jenifa has governed the December box office, contributing thereabouts 40% of the total revenue, with 202,604 admissions.
Akindele humbly shared that this achievement further cements her position as the “highest-grossing producer and director,” holding the record for the “top four highest-grossing Nollywood films.”
She expressed her sense of obligation to her fans, saying, “God did! Thank you, Jenifans, for supporting Everybody Loves Jenifa! We couldn’t have reached here without you.”
“We’re excited for what’s to come with this massive win. Keep watching in all cinemas nationwide!” she added.
The film's success extends beyond Nigeria. In just eight days following its international release on December 20, Everybody Loves Jenifa earned an impressive $194,560 (approximately ₦300 million) from markets outside Africa, including the UK, US, Canada, and more.
Funke Akindele continues to break box office records. Earlier in 2024, her film A Tribe Called Judah also made history, becoming the first Nollywood film to gross ₦1 billion in just 21 days.

In 2024, Akindele's movie A Tribe Called Judah became the highest-grossing Nigerian movie of all time, breaking the record of her movie Battle on Buka Street. She has the most wins at award shows like AMVCA and Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
