President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has delivered his final New Year message as Ghana’s leader, reflecting on his eight-year presidency and urging unity and hope as the country enters 2025. In a heartfelt address, Akufo-Addo expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve, calling it the greatest honour of my life and thanking Ghanaians for their trust and resilience. He noted, Together, we have walked a journey of transformation, and it is a journey I will always cherish.

During his tenure, President Akufo-Addo highlighted several key achievements, including the implementation of the Free Senior High School policy, improvements in healthcare, infrastructure development, agricultural revitalisation, and progress in digitalisation. These efforts, he said, were not merely statistics but real stories of lives changed and futures made brighter for many Ghanaians.

The President acknowledged the challenges faced by the nation, particularly the difficulties arising from the post-COVID-19 years. Despite these obstacles, he praised the resilience of the Ghanaian people, saying, The road has not always been smooth, and there have been times of difficulty and sacrifice. Yet through it all, the indomitable Ghanaian spirit has prevailed.

Looking forward, Akufo-Addo called for continued hope and unity. He urged Ghanaians to embrace new dreams and remain committed to nation-building. He particularly encouraged the youth, whom he described as the heartbeat of our future, to dream big and work hard, emphasizing that “the future is yours to shape.

Reflecting on Ghana’s democratic progress, the President commended the peaceful elections that reinforced the country’s status as a pillar of democracy in Africa. He congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the newly elected Members of Parliament, stressing that the pursuit of power should never involve violence but always a commitment to serving the people.

As he prepares to leave office, Akufo-Addo expressed confidence in Ghana’s future, stating, Ghana is destined for greatness, and I believe in the strength of her people to achieve it. He reassured Ghanaians that the foundation laid during his presidency would serve as a launchpad for further progress.

In closing, the President wished the nation a prosperous 2025, with hopes for unity, joy, and continued growth. “May our homes be filled with laughter, our communities with unity, and our nation with prosperity,” he concluded.
