Tema Central MP-elect Charles Forson Ready to Serve After Close Victory

Charles Forson, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially been declared the Member of Parliament (MP)-elect for Tema Central Constituency after the Electoral Commission (EC) concluded the collation and declaration of results on January 5, 2025. Forson’s victory follows a tightly contested race, where he defeated Ebi Bright of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) by a narrow margin, securing 18,870 votes compared to Bright’s 18,815. Forson’s victory reflects the determination and support of his constituency, and he expressed his deep gratitude to those who supported him throughout the electoral process. Forson is now prepared to focus on addressing the development needs of the constituency as he embarks on his parliamentary journey.

In his first statement after the results were announced, Forson emphasized the conclusion of the electoral battle, signaling that it was now time to concentrate on moving forward with the responsibilities of his new role. He thanked his supporters and expressed his appreciation for their patience during the prolonged electoral process. Forson also expressed confidence in the electoral system, highlighting that the final results were consistent with his expectations. According to him, elections are ultimately about numbers, and the results he received demonstrated that the people’s wishes had been accurately represented. Forson’s remarks reflected a sense of closure after the challenging political period and affirmed his belief in the fairness of the process.

The finalization of Forson’s victory came after a significant decision by the Accra High Court on January 4, 2025, which instructed the EC to complete the collation of results for several constituencies, including Tema Central, by January 6, 2025. The court’s order ensured that the electoral process would be concluded promptly, bringing clarity to the political landscape. Forson’s victory in Tema Central is particularly noteworthy, as it follows a fiercely contested election, with the results having a significant impact on the local political balance. Forson’s immediate focus now shifts to the development of his constituency, where he plans to address key issues such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare, with the goal of improving the lives of his constituents. As the NPP continues its efforts to strengthen its representation across the country, Forson’s leadership is expected to contribute to the party’s wider objectives.
