Martin Kwaku Adjei-Mensah Korsah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially been declared the Member of Parliament-elect for Techiman South after the final collation of results by the Electoral Commission (EC). The declaration came after a prolonged and contentious process, which saw both the NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC) initially claiming victory. The Returning Officer for Techiman South, Amartey Adjaottor, confirmed that Adjei-Mensah Korsah won with a total of 46,663 votes, narrowly defeating the NDC’s Christopher Beyere Baasongti, who secured 43,429 votes. The final result came after weeks of disputes, heightened tension, and multiple legal challenges surrounding the election process in the constituency.

The controversy surrounding the Techiman South election led to an order from the High Court to re-collate the results, ensuring fairness and transparency. The court had discovered that results from 147 polling stations had yet to be processed, which contributed to the delays in the final declaration. Both political parties were eager to see the outcome, with each side asserting that they had won. The re-collation, however, gave the EC a chance to ensure that all the votes were counted accurately and fairly. After the final count, the EC confirmed Adjei-Mensah Korsah’s victory, putting an end to the legal wrangling and disputes that had been ongoing since election day.

Adjei-Mensah Korsah’s victory solidifies the NPP’s hold over Techiman South, ensuring that the party maintains its representation in the region. Following the legal proceedings and the declaration of the results, he now prepares to begin his term as the elected Member of Parliament. Korsah’s supporters, who had been waiting for a resolution to the electoral dispute, can now celebrate the outcome as a triumph for their party. Korsah has pledged to prioritize the development of his constituency, focusing on addressing the needs of the people and continuing the work he began during his previous term. This final result offers closure to the contested election, and both political parties are now expected to move forward, setting their sights on the upcoming parliamentary activities and the future of Techiman South.
