Ghana's President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, has officially announced his appointments to the Office of the President, just a day before his inauguration ceremony. This move is a significant step in forming his new administration. Mahama's appointments include some familiar faces from his previous administration. Julius Debrah, former Chief of Staff, will reprise his role, while Dr. Callistus Mahama, who served as Secretary of the NDC's Transition Team, will retain the same position in the Office of the President. Additionally, Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, a former Attorney General, has been named Legal Counsel to the President.

Other key appointments include:

- Prosper Douglas Bani as Head of Interim Security Taskforce

- Dr. Valerie Sawyerr as Senior Presidential Advisor, Governmental Affairs

- Augustus Goosie Tanoh as Presidential Advisor Responsible for 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development

- Felix Kwakye Ofosu as Acting Spokesperson to the President

These appointments follow Mahama's earlier decision to establish a six-member Interim National Security Coordinating Team. The team, led by Prosper Douglas Bani, will oversee national security issues until substantive appointments are made. Other members of the team include:

- Lt. General Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd.), Former Chief of Defence Staff

- Kofi Totobi Quakyi, Former Minister for National Security

- Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Esq., Former National Security Coordinator

- Brigadier General Fuseini Iddrissu (Rtd.)

- COP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye (Rtd.)

Mahama is set to be sworn in as President on Tuesday, January 7, alongside Vice President-elect Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang at the Black Star Square in Accra. The ceremony is expected to draw thousands of citizens and high-profile international delegations. In a related development, Mahama has endorsed Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to serve as Speaker of the 9th Parliament.

As Mahama prepares to take office, these appointments and endorsements set the stage for his administration's priorities and policies. With his experience as a former President, Mahama is well-positioned to hit the ground running, addressing the country's pressing issues and driving progress. The coming days will be crucial in shaping the trajectory of his presidency, and Ghanaians will be watching closely as he begins his new term.
