Appiah's comments come on the heels of Richmond Lamptey's departure from Kotoko to join Rwandan side APR FC on a free transfer. However, Appiah believes that Kotoko's unique benefits and treatment of its players set it apart from other clubs.
In an interview with Akoma FM, Appiah highlighted the excellent care and incentives that Kotoko players receive. "I believe that Kotoko players are currently receiving excellent care. As everyone is aware, Otumfuo provides them with free housing, and they don't have to pay for utilities. They only pay a small portion of their earnings for food."
Appiah also emphasized the timely payment of salaries and bonuses. "This is a squad that occasionally receives salary payments on the 25th or 26th of each month. The following day, they receive bonuses for winning a game." He believes that these incentives make Kotoko an attractive option for players.
"I don't think any team can match the incentives Kotoko offers its players, and I think we're doing our best with the King's assistance," Appiah said. He expressed his astonishment at the idea of any player leaving under such favourable conditions. "Furthermore, unless there are additional reasons, I would be shocked if a player currently playing for Kotoko considered leaving."
Appiah's comments suggest that Kotoko is committed to creating an environment that attracts and retains top talent. With its unique incentives and benefits, the club is well-positioned to compete with other teams in the Ghana Premier League.
