Alhaji Babs Bodinga, the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, has expressed no surprise over the recent directive requiring Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to vacate their positions. In an interview, Bodinga pointed to Act 20 of the Local Government Act, which outlines the conditions under which MMDCEs leave office, including resignation, termination, or revocation when there is a change in government.
Bodinga stated that he vacated his position immediately after handing over his official vehicle and assured the Assembly's coordinating team of his continued availability for assistance if required. He also expressed confidence in his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to rectify past mistakes and regain strength in future elections.
During his tenure, Bodinga initiated several developmental projects under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Some notable achievements include:
- Construction of 17 Schools: Bodinga oversaw the construction of 17 schools at various stages of completion within the Abuakwa North Municipality. He personally ensured the procurement of desks for these schools.
- Improvements in Healthcare: Bodinga emphasized that all health sectors in the municipality have been fully equipped to better serve the people.
- Other Developmental Projects: Bodinga prepared a brochure documenting all the projects undertaken during his tenure, showcasing President Akufo-Addo's commitment to development.
Bodinga commended former President Akufo-Addo for his significant contributions to the people of Abuakwa North, describing his tenure as impactful and transformative. As the former MCE moves on, he remains committed to supporting the development of the Abuakwa North Municipality.
Notably, Bodinga was unanimously confirmed as the MCE for Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, receiving 100% of the votes from the 23 Assembly Members present . During his tenure, he embarked on a community tour to engage with residents and address their concerns .
