President John Dramani Mahama has released names of some three individuals to key ministerial positions.
These distinguished individuals who are also members of Parliament are: Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Finance Minister-designate, Hon John Abdulai Jinapor as Energy Minister-designate and Hon Dominic Akuritinga Ayine- Ministers-designate for Attorney General cum Minister of Justice.
Finance Minister Designate- Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is a Ghanaian politician and member of parliament representing the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam constituency in the Central Region since 2009. Born on August 5, 1978, in Ajumako Bisease, Ghana, he's a Christian and is married with two children.
Education and Career: Forson holds impressive academic credentials, including a PhD in Business and Management (Finance option) from KNUST, Master's degrees in Taxation from the University of Oxford and Economics from KNUST, and a degree in Accounting from South Bank University in London. Before entering politics, he worked as the Managing Director of Forson Contracts Limited in the UK and as the CEO of Omega Africa Holding Limited.
Political Career: As a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Forson has served as the Deputy Minister for Finance from 2013 to 2017 and has been part of several parliamentary committees, including the Finance Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee. In January 2023, he was appointed as the Minority Leader in Parliament, replacing Haruna Iddrisu. Forson has consistently advocated for good governance, transparency, and accountability in Ghana.
Energy Minister Designate- John Abdulai Jinapor.
John Abdulai Jinapor is a Ghanaian politician and member of parliament representing the Yapei-Kusawgu constituency in the Northern Region. Born on June 8, 1979, Jinapor holds various academic degrees, including a Master's in Development Finance, a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance and Financial Law, and a Master's of Science in Energy Economics.
Jinapor's political career spans several roles, including Deputy Minister of Energy under the John Mahama administration. He has been a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and has served in the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
In his recent appointment, President John Mahama has nominated Jinapor as the Minister for Energy designate. As a seasoned expert in energy economics, Jinapor has been vocal about energy-related issues, including criticizing the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for attributing power outages to technical glitches rather than financial issues.
Attorney General and Minister for Justice Designate- Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine.
The Attorney General and Minister for Justice Designate is Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine. He's a senior lawyer with over three decades of experience in practice. His impressive academic background includes a Ph.D. in law from Stanford University, a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Michigan Law School, and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ghana.
Dr. Ayine has previously served as the Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice and is the founding
partner of Ayini & Partners Law Offices. He has also lectured at the University of Ghana Law School for many years.
