President John Dramani Mahama has issued a strong warning to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to refrain from destroying or looting state properties. This warning comes in response to reports of alleged destruction and looting of state assets by individuals linked to the NDC.

Speaking at the National Muslim Prayer and Thanksgiving event at the National Mosque in Kanda, Accra, Mahama emphasized the need for responsible behavior to maintain the trust and confidence of Ghanaians in the party. He called on supporters to desist from illegal actions, such as looting goods and occupying government offices, and instead encouraged them to do things differently.

Mahama drew parallels with similar incidents attributed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2017, cautioning against repeating those mistakes. He noted that Ghanaians voted out the NPP due to their actions and urged NDC supporters not to follow in their footsteps. "We must not copy their mistakes. I plead with you, let us do things in an orderly manner," he added.

The President assured supporters that their concerns would be addressed through proper channels once the government's administrative structure is fully established. He noted that the government is being formed, ministers will be put in place, and other officials will be appointed. Mahama urged party members to exercise patience and channel grievances through appointed ministers once they assume their roles.

Mahama's warning is a clear indication of his commitment to maintaining law and order in the country. His emphasis on responsible behavior and orderly conduct is a welcome message, especially given the recent reports of destruction and looting. By cautioning against repeating the mistakes of the NPP, Mahama is demonstrating his willingness to learn from the past and promote a more positive and constructive approach to governance.

As the NDC begins its new term in office, Mahama's warning serves as a reminder of the importance of accountability and responsible behavior. By urging his supporters to desist from destructive behavior and instead promote orderly conduct, Mahama is setting a positive tone for his administration and demonstrating his commitment to the well-being of all Ghanaians.
