A group of approximately 30 individuals claiming affiliation with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) stormed the premises of the Bui Power Authority (BPA) on Saturday, demanding the immediate resignation of all employees, from management to junior staff. According to the group, the recent change in government necessitates a complete overhaul of the Authority's personnel.

The protesters argued that the current staff had failed to deliver tangible results over the past eight years, leaving ordinary Ghanaians to suffer while employees allegedly enjoy undue privileges. They warned that not even the President could deter their actions, declaring Ghana as a nation that belongs to all citizens.

In a video circulating on social media, a spokesperson for the group accused the Authority’s staff of financial mismanagement, nepotism, and inefficiency. He claimed that directors misappropriated funds on unnecessary travel expenses and alleged that a recent recruitment exercise was driven by political bias.

“All those people must pack their baggage and leave,” the spokesperson asserted. “We have seen no progress for eight years. If anything, conditions have worsened. This can no longer be tolerated.”

The group linked their demands to the recent nomination of a new Minister of Energy, interpreting it as a signal for sweeping reforms across the energy sector. They insisted that even security personnel and receptionists should vacate their positions, citing the need for fairness and improved management.

The protesters expressed their frustration at the hardships faced by ordinary citizens, contrasting it with what they described as the extravagant privileges of BPA employees. “We are fed up. Not even John Mahama will stop us because the country belongs to all of us,” the spokesperson declared.

The group vowed to escalate their actions if their concerns were not addressed promptly. “Our demands are simple: better leadership and equal opportunities for everyone,” the spokesperson concluded. “If nothing changes, nobody will stop us the next time.”

The incident has sparked mixed reactions, with many questioning the legality of such demands and their potential implications for public sector governance. The Bui Power Authority has yet to issue an official response.
