Salome Adaidu: ‘She was unfaithful, I have no regrets for K!lling her’ – Timileyin Ajayi

In a shocking and gruesome case that has sent waves of horror across Nasarawa State and beyond, 32-year-old Timileyin Ajayi has confessed to the murder and dismemberment of Salome Adaidu, a 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member. Salome, who was serving with Nicon Insurance in Abuja, had visited Ajayi at his residence in New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, only to meet a brutal and untimely death.

Ajayi, who was arrested by the police with Salome’s severed remains, has openly stated that he does not regret his actions. In a disturbing interview with Channels TV, Ajayi claimed that Salome’s alleged infidelity drove him to commit the heinous crime. “I killed her because she was cheating. It wasn’t something I planned; it just happened that day,” he said. “I don’t regret it because life is reciprocal. If someone does something to you, you should respond accordingly.”

He alleged that he discovered messages on Salome’s phone that suggested she was communicating with other men. “She hid things from me. I found chats on her phone, and that was when I decided to act,” Ajayi explained. His chilling justification for the crime has left many questioning how jealousy and mistrust could escalate to such unimaginable violence.

Salome’s death has devastated her family, who are struggling to come to terms with the horrific details. Her elder sister, Esther Adaidu, refuted Ajayi’s claims of a romantic relationship, describing him as a stranger to the family. “This so-called Timi guy, we don’t know him. We have never seen him before. We only learned about him when the police informed us of my sister’s murder,” she said.

Esther has called for justice, urging the authorities to ensure that Ajayi is held accountable. “I demand justice for my sister. This man has taken a life in the most gruesome manner imaginable,” she added.

Salome’s uncle, Samson Adaidu, echoed these sentiments, expressing his anguish over the brutality of the crime. “He didn’t just kill her; he butchered her body into pieces. It’s as though he was preparing it for something sinister,” Samson said, his voice heavy with emotion. According to the family, Salome’s remains were found in six separate polythene bags, a detail that underscores the horrifying nature of the crime.

The tragedy has sparked outrage in the community, with calls for swift and decisive action. The police have assured the public that justice will be served. SP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer for Nasarawa State Command, confirmed that investigations are ongoing and pledged that Ajayi will face the full extent of the law.

“We are leaving no stone unturned. Upon conclusion of our investigation, the suspect will be arraigned in court. We encourage anyone with additional information or complaints to come forward,” Nansel stated.

This case has drawn attention to the dangers of unresolved conflicts in relationships and the potential for unchecked emotions to spiral into violence. Psychologists and social commentators have emphasized the importance of addressing mental health issues and promoting conflict resolution to prevent such tragedies.
