Ghana Water Limited Enhances Water Quality in Central Region
In a significant development, Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has markedly improved water quality at the Sekyere Hemang Water Treatment Plant in the Central Region. This initiative has reduced the average turbidity levels from 14,000 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units) to 9,000 NTU, ensuring cleaner and safer water for residents.
The Central Regional Security Council (REGSEC), under the leadership of Regional Minister Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, played a pivotal role in this achievement. Their concerted efforts led to an increase in daily water production from 1.98 million gallons to 2.77 million gallons, benefiting communities in Cape Coast, Elmina, and surrounding areas.
GWL's management has assured customers of their commitment to meeting the region's growing water demand. They emphasized ongoing efforts to further enhance water supply and quality, advising residents to use water wisely during this period. The company also expressed gratitude to REGSEC for their prompt support in addressing water quality challenges.
These improvements are part of GWL's broader strategy to ensure reliable and safe water access across Ghana. By investing in infrastructure and collaborating with regional authorities, GWL aims to tackle water scarcity and quality issues, contributing to the nation's health and development.
Residents have welcomed these advancements, noting the positive impact on daily life and local businesses. Clean water access is crucial for public health, economic activities, and overall well-being, making GWL's efforts a significant step forward for the Central Region.
As Ghana continues to develop, sustainable water management remains a priority. GWL's proactive measures set a benchmark for other regions, highlighting the importance of infrastructure development and effective governance in addressing environmental challenges.
