President Mahama Visits Miracle Worship Centre to Thank Prophet Opambour

President John Dramani Mahama paid a special visit to the Miracle Worship Centre, led by Prophet Opambour Ebenezer, also known as Prophet 1, in Ahenema Kokoben, Ashanti Region. The visit was part of Mahama’s working tour of the Ashanti Region, a key stop in his national engagements.

Earlier in the day, President Mahama attended the Akwasidae Festival at the Manhyia Palace, where he joined the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and other traditional leaders in celebrating the rich culture of the Ashanti people. Following this, he proceeded to the Miracle Worship Centre to participate in Sunday worship activities, further strengthening ties with the region’s religious community.

Prophet Opambour played a pivotal role in supporting Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 elections. Known for his outspoken nature, the Prophet openly campaigned for Mahama and NDC parliamentary candidates, publicly endorsing them and rallying support among his congregation. His efforts were instrumental in helping the NDC regain power after eight years in opposition.

The President’s visit is widely seen as a gesture of gratitude and recognition for Prophet Opambour’s contributions to the NDC’s success, particularly in the Ashanti Region—a traditional stronghold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). The acknowledgment underscores the impact of religious figures in Ghana’s political landscape.

Mahama was accompanied by high-ranking NDC officials, including NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Ashanti Regional executives, and Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister-designate. The presence of his immediate family, including his son Sharaf Mahama, added a personal touch to the occasion.

This visit highlights the close interplay between politics and religion in Ghana, where influential clerics often play a significant role in shaping public opinion and rallying support for political leaders. It also emphasizes Mahama’s appreciation for the strategic alliances that contributed to his victory.

By attending Sunday worship at the Miracle Worship Centre, President Mahama not only thanked Prophet Opambour for his efforts but also reinforced his connection to the Ashanti Region’s spiritual and political landscape. This move signifies a commitment to fostering unity and collaboration as his administration takes shape. Watch the full video below
