Early Life and Education


Dr. Omane Boamah hails from Ghana and has an impressive educational background. He attended Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary in Koforidua, Ghana. He then proceeded to the University of Ghana Medical School, where he trained as a medical doctor. Additionally, he has a medical elective from a university in Missouri, USA, and a master's degree in Health Policy Planning and Financing from the London School of Economics and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine .


Political Career


Dr. Omane Boamah's political career spans over a decade, with various roles in government and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He served as the Deputy Minister for Environment, Science and Technology from 2009 to 2012 and later became the NDC's deputy campaign coordinator in the 2012 general elections. He also chaired committees that investigated environmental incidents, including oil spills and sodium cyanide contamination.


Dr. Omane Boamah has also held positions such as Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Minister for Communications, and Spokesperson to President John Mahama. His experience in these roles has equipped him with the skills and expertise necessary to excel as the Defence Minister-designate.


Other Roles and Achievements


As a student, Dr. Omane Boamah served as President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) and Coordinating Secretary of the Federation of Ghana Medical Students Association (FGMSA). He has also been involved in various international organizations, including the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UNCSTD), where he served as Vice Chairman.
