Nigerian-born journalist, Mr. Richard Edoki, has been nominated in the Best Newcomer category for the 2025 National Hospital Radio Awards in the United Kingdom.

Edoki, also known by his broadcast name Richybongo, shared the news in a statement released on Saturday.
He explained that the awards, which are organized annually by the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA), recognize outstanding contributions to hospital broadcasting across the UK.
Edoki is the host of African Vibe with Richybongo on the Community Hospital Broadcasting Network (CHBN) in Cornwall, England. The show, which airs every Sunday evening, highlights the cultural diversity and worldviews of African communities while fostering inclusivity with local Cornish audiences.
Through music, food, fashion, and language, Richybongo creates a platform that bridges cultures and fosters a shared sense of community, he said.
“African Vibe with Richybongo” has brought the vibrant cultures of Africa to the airwaves in Cornwall, encouraging mutual learning and creating a sense of belonging for all listeners. By exploring African traditions, the show introduces the richness of the continent’s heritage to Cornish audiences, while also offering Africans in Cornwall a "home away from home."
Richybongo expressed his fulfilment in seeing how the show has become a cultural bridge, helping listeners appreciate the diversity that enriches the world.
The National Hospital Radio Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 5, 2025.
