The final funeral rites for veteran actor Albert Odartei Jackson-Davis will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025.
His body will be laid in state on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 6 p.m. at his family home in James Town, near Mantse Agbonaa.
The burial service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Cathedral Church of The Most Holy Trinity, located on John Atta Mills High Street in Accra, followed by a private burial.
Jackson-Davis passed away in September 2024 after a battle with an undisclosed illness.
He was widely recognized for his roles in films such as Heritage Africa, The Storm, and My Very Ghanaian Wedding.
In the 1990s, he also served as Deputy Executive Director of PANAFEST, the Pan African Historical Theatre Festival.
Meanwhile: The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has called on his fellow lawmakers to draw inspiration from the exemplary relationship and conduct of the Jinapor brothers.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, during the confirmation of John Jinapor as Minister for Energy, Afenyo-Markin underscored the importance of collaboration and mutual respect among politicians. Recognizing that energy policy was not his area of expertise, he deferred to minority members with relevant knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the approval process of Jinapor.
Afenyo-Markin praised John Jinapor as an approachable and congenial individual and also commended his brother, Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Member of Parliament for Damongo, for his dedicated service as the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources. “Ghanaians should take note; the politics we engage in should not divide families,” he remarked.
The Minority Leader took the opportunity to urge members, especially those on the majority side, to refrain from divisive behaviour during elections. “Those who misbehave at polling stations should learn from the Jinapor brothers,” he said, referencing instances where political rivalries had led to inappropriate conduct.
