The announcement took place at the NPC-Ghana Secretariat in Accra, marking the start of Professor Kim's one-year tenure. During this time, he will provide technical guidance aimed at advancing and promoting para sports in Ghana.

Professor Kim, who was assigned by the Korean government through KOICA, brings vast experience in para-sports development.

Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role, Professor Kim shared his excitement about being in Ghana and contributing to the growth of para-sports across Africa. "I can feel the energy on the streets, and I believe Ghana has a bright future in para-sports," he said. "I will do my best during my year here, and I look forward to your guidance and support."

The NPC-Ghana has set several key goals for Professor Kim's tenure, including offering technical advice, building capacity, and creating a roadmap for Ghana's qualification events leading up to major competitions, such as the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, the 2027 African Para Games, and the 2028 LA Paralympic Games in the USA.

The appointment of Professor Kim marks a major step forward in the development of para-sports in Ghana. His expertise and leadership will help take Ghanaian para-sports to new heights, creating more opportunities for athletes with disabilities to excel and represent the nation on the global stage.

Professor Kim is the second technical advisor to be deployed to NPC-Ghana by the government of Korea, following Dr. James Lee, who served in the role two years ago. Dr. Lee was pivotal in the planning, hosting, and successful delivery of the first-ever African Para Games on the continent, with significant support from the Korean government and the Korean Paralympic Committee, including sports equipment and logistics.

Samson Deen, President of NPC-Ghana, expressed confidence in the positive impact of Professor Kim's appointment. "I do not doubt that his arrival will further enhance the development and promotion of para-sports and strengthen the capacity of our Associations and Federations, in line with the government’s vision of revitalizing Ghana’s sports sector," he concluded.
