The Lagos State Government has announced the launch of electronic registration for the 2025 Universal Basic Education (UBE) by Continuous Assessment Scores (CAS) and Placement Test. Registration will be open from Monday, January 27 to Friday, April 2025.
This initiative, coordinated by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education through the Lagos State Examinations Board, is aimed at enhancing the quality of education in the state.
Mr Adebayo Orunsolu, Director of the Lagos State Examinations Board, shared the announcement in a statement, urging parents, guardians, headteachers, and proprietors of primary six pupils transitioning into junior secondary schools (JSS) to take the necessary steps for registration.
The statement also highlighted that the Yoruba Language has been approved as one of the subjects to assess the knowledge and cognitive abilities of pupils taking the CAS placement test in the state.
Orunsolu emphasized that only primary six pupils in public and approved private primary schools in Lagos are eligible for the UBE by CAS and Placement Test. Registration is free for pupils in public primary schools, while those in approved private schools are required to pay a fee of N5,000 per candidate via the Lagos State Central Billing System (CBS).
He urged school authorities in both public and approved private institutions to ensure parents and guardians are well-informed about the registration process and deadlines.
The Director reassured all stakeholders and parents that the registration process would be smooth and efficient, with systems in place to ensure no child is overlooked.
