Nigerian actress Dada Omowunmi recently shared her experience of battling sepsis while working on a film project in Oyo State. Her account follows a similar revelation by fellow actress Jemima Osunde, who spoke about health issues caused by contaminated food consumed on set in Ibadan.
In response to Osunde's post on X.com last Friday, Dada wrote, "My dear… I got sepsis on a project in Oyo, and they left me in the hotel. Thank God my family and management arranged for a car to take me to a hospital in Ibadan. I arrived unconscious, and it turned out to be sepsis. I was lucky to be alive.”
Dada also shared that, despite her serious condition, the production company still demanded a full refund. “Funny thing, production asked for a full refund. Hmm…” she added.
Osunde responded, expressing relief that Dada survived, saying, “OMG! Sepsis? Thank God for your life sis! Thank God!”
She then shared her own experience, saying, “Sameeee! I got myself to Lagos and the hospital. Paid for my treatment myself. They were still sending me messages about a refund. By the time my team sent a response with all the clauses they had breached in the contract, they went quiet. Talking about a refund when you haven’t even asked if I’ve recovered.”
On Thursday, Osunde revealed a health struggle she’s been dealing with for the past three years, which started after she ate contaminated food on a set in Ibadan. She contracted Helicobacter pylori, a bacteria that infects the stomach and has since been battling gastroesophageal reflux disease.
