Operatives from the Ogun State Police Command have arrested Idowu Kehinde, 35, for allegedly stealing ceiling fans and aluminium windows from a mosque in the Adiyan area of Agbado, Ogun State.
According to reports, Kehinde scaled the fence of the Mapara Moboluwaduro Central Mosque to gain access. Then, he stole eight ceiling fans and four aluminium windows, valued at N520,000.
The arrest was confirmed by Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who stated that the suspect had confessed to selling the stolen items to one Awal Yusuf.
"On January 27, 2025, at approximately 9:00 am, we received a report that Idowu Kehinde, 35, jumped the fence of the Mapara Moboluwaduro Central Mosque in the Agoro area of Adiyan, Agbado, and stole eight ceiling fans and four aluminium windows valued at N520,000," Odutola said.
She added that a bag containing some of the stolen aluminium window frames had been recovered and that Kehinde would soon be arraigned at the Ojodu Abiodun Magistrate Court.
"The suspect was arrested and brought in for questioning, where he confessed to selling the stolen items to one Awal Yusuf, 31. A bag containing aluminium window frames has been recovered, and the suspect will be charged in court shortly," she explained.
This arrest follows a similar case involving a 16-year-old, Ademola Bolu, who was apprehended by Ogun State police for allegedly stealing aluminium roofing sheets worth N180,000 from the Christ Light Deliverance Ministry Church in Orile-Ilugun, Odeda Local Government Area.
Bolu, along with two accomplices who are still at large, was found in possession of two sacks filled with stolen roofing sheets, which had been cut into pieces for easier transport.
