Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or Tuface, has revealed that he is separated from his wife, Annie Idibia. The couple, one of Nigeria’s most well-known celebrity duos, tied the knot in 2012 and have two daughters together.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the African Queen singer confirmed that they had been separated for some time and were in the process of filing for divorce. Shortly after, 2Baba posted a video to confirm the truth of his initial message.
2Baba, who is credited as one of the pioneers of the Nigerian music scene and helped pave the way for global stars like Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, remains widely recognized by his stage name, despite announcing a name change to 2Baba in 2014.
The couple’s wedding in Dubai in 2013 was a highly publicized event that captured the attention of fans across Nigeria, and their marriage has been seen as one of the most enduring in Nigerian celebrity culture. News of their separation has come as a shock to many fans, who had admired their ability to work through past challenges.
2Baba has expressed his intention to hold a press conference to offer more details and provide his side of the story directly to his fans and music lovers worldwide. In his Instagram post, he stated, "I and Annie Macauley have been separated for a while now, and currently filed for divorce."
However, after the post was deleted, 2Baba later clarified in a live video, stating, "No one hacked my account, I said what I said, I come in peace."
The couple has also unfollowed each other on social media, further confirming the split.
Annie, who is also an actress, previously discussed her struggles, including a miscarriage and challenges with 2Baba’s other relationships, on the reality show Young, Famous & African. Additionally, she played the love interest in the video for 2Baba's iconic song, African Queen, where their romance is believed to have blossomed.
