Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has publicly expressed his strong commitment to African traditional religion, positioning himself as a passionate advocate for his ancestral beliefs. In a recent social media post, he criticized those who distance themselves from their heritage due to societal pressures. The post featured a powerful image of him in traditional attire, complete with red beads that highlighted his cultural pride.
Edochie’s message boldly stated, “Because of fear of what people will say, Africans are running away from their powerful African religion, their originality. Abomination!!!”
He continued, “I will never abandon the ways of my forefathers. It is built on truth, transparency, and fairness. I’m a hardcore traditionalist.”
This revelation was not entirely unexpected, as Edochie had recently shared his spiritual awakening after returning to his church, where he claimed to have discovered deeper truths.
In the same post, Edochie clarified that he is still a minister of God but has returned to his roots as guided by divine instruction. “People are asking, is Yul Edochie still a minister of God? The answer is, yes, I’m still a minister of God and now a more powerful minister of God because I have gone back to my roots, understood who I am, where I’m coming from, and where I should be heading as instructed by the Almighty God.”
