Soul singer Opaluwa Solomon, also known as Khingsolo, has opened up about his latest EP, Who Jah Bless. In an interview with Saturday Beats, Khingsolo revealed that the EP is a tribute to his late father, whose iconic catchphrase was “Who Jah bless.” The project delves into themes of introspection, self-discovery, and finding hope in life's darkest times.
“The EP is dedicated to my dad’s memory, whose slogan ‘Who Jah bless’ meant so much to him,” Khingsolo shared. “The inspiration behind this project comes from my personal journey, the things I’ve experienced, and the emotions I’ve felt. I wanted to craft a story that touches on the universal human experience.”
Explaining his approach to the songwriting and production process, Khingsolo said, “I focused on storytelling, drawing from my own life and emotions. I played around with various melodies, harmonies, and rhythms to create a unified sound that tells the story I want to share.”
The artist also acknowledged the difficulties faced by up-and-coming musicians in the competitive industry. “The biggest challenges for young artists are production and promotion,” he admitted. “Creating high-quality music is tough, especially when financial limitations and lack of resources come into play. Once a song is produced, getting it out there and reaching the right audience can be even harder, particularly without the backing of a record label.”
To overcome these hurdles, Khingsolo encouraged fellow artists to be resourceful and proactive. “It’s important to stay innovative and take initiative when it comes to both production and promotion,” he advised. “You have to find ways to make it work, no matter what.”
