Actor Chike Daniel has expressed his preference for playing the lover boy role, stating that it suits him better.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, he said, "I prefer to play the lover boy. It feels like a natural fit for me. I also tend to portray positive characters, which allows me to showcase the loving and caring nature of an average Nigerian man to the world."
Known for his romantic roles, Daniel also reflected on his journey into Nollywood.
"Many think it happened overnight, but it wasn't easy. I enrolled in a film school in Lagos in 2016, and between then and when I got my big break, I spent a lot of time auditioning for roles. People who first noticed me in 2022 might assume that's when I started, but it’s been a longer journey."
He credited his role in Just a Sin—starring alongside Ray Emodi, Ego Nwosu, and Victoria Egbuchere—as the project that first brought him recognition.
"One of the biggest challenges I faced was adapting to Nollywood’s style. Although I went to film school in Nigeria, I wasn’t initially into Nigerian films. It took some time to understand how to interpret films the way they are typically done here. I had to watch a lot of films to get the hang of it."
