Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has fired back at his critics, calling out what he describes as baseless smear campaigns and false accusations. In a strongly worded response, he reaffirmed his commitment to protecting public resources and ensuring government accountability.

Ablakwa, known for his outspoken stance on governance and oversight, stated that his critics had multiple opportunities to challenge him but failed to do so. He noted that when he appeared for vetting, those questioning his integrity “chose to run away” instead of confronting him directly. He further pointed out that despite being in power for eight years, his opponents were unable to find any wrongdoing on his part.

“Now they have resorted to desperate smear press conferences and infantile fabrications,” Ablakwa stated, dismissing the allegations against him as unfounded. He also expressed his willingness to undergo another round of vetting if necessary, emphasizing that he has nothing to hide.

The North Tongu MP has built a reputation as a fierce advocate for transparency and accountability, particularly when it comes to the management of public funds and state assets. He argued that his dedication to this cause should not be seen as a crime but rather as a fulfillment of his constitutional mandate as a legislator.

“It is not a crime for a Member of Parliament to patriotically and diligently seek the protection of public resources and state assets pursuant to our constitutional mandate of oversight,” he stated. His remarks suggest that he remains undeterred by political pressure and will continue to champion accountability in governance.

Ablakwa also took the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the vision of former President John Mahama, under whom he is set to play a significant role in the Foreign Ministry. He described Mahama’s governance strategy as an “exciting reset” that he looks forward to implementing.

“Those on the side of truth and justice can never be intimidated,” he declared, indicating that he remains resolute despite opposition. He ended his statement with a patriotic declaration: “For God and Country. Ghana First.”

His response highlights the ongoing political tension in Ghana, where issues of accountability, governance, and integrity continue to dominate public discourse. Ablakwa’s bold defense suggests that he is ready to face any scrutiny while staying focused on his role in advancing Ghana’s interests on the global stage.
