Prominent Ghanaian politician and legal practitioner, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, is facing serious allegations of financial misconduct and bribery, raising concerns about ethical standards in public office. Reports indicate that two companies linked to him Square Logistics GH LTD and Excel Courier—have failed to meet their loan obligations, accumulating debts amounting to over GHS 22 million. Additionally, accusations have resurfaced regarding his alleged involvement in a bribery case dating back to 2015.

According to sources, Square Logistics GH LTD has an outstanding debt of GHS 18,462,405.96, while Excel Courier owes GHS 3,975,226.27. The repeated defaults by these companies have sparked questions about financial management and accountability within businesses associated with the politician.

Beyond financial mismanagement, Afenyo-Markin is also accused of demanding a GHS 1 million bribe in 2015 to manipulate a legal case in his favor. Reports claim he received GHS 250,000 upfront as part of a deal to have the case dismissed. The implication was that once the case was thrown out, no aggrieved party would have the legal standing to challenge the matter again, based on a Supreme Court ruling.

These allegations, if proven true, could severely impact Afenyo-Markin’s credibility as a politician and legal expert. The public expects elected officials and legal practitioners to uphold integrity and fairness, making such accusations particularly damaging.

The situation has reignited discussions on corruption and transparency in Ghana’s political and judicial systems. Many citizens are calling for thorough investigations to establish the truth and ensure accountability. Given the gravity of the claims, political analysts believe this could influence public perception ahead of the next elections.

At the time of this report, Afenyo-Markin has not issued a public response addressing the allegations. His silence leaves room for speculation, but it also presents an opportunity for him to clarify matters and restore public confidence.

As these developments unfold, Ghanaians will be watching closely to see whether authorities take action or if this will become yet another unresolved controversy in the nation’s political landscape. Calls for independent investigations are growing, with citizens demanding transparency and accountability from those in power.
