Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso North Constituency, has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
Before his appointment, Yussif Issaka Jajah served as a Research Fellow at the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization in Accra from 2013 to 2016. He also worked as a Consultant in Oil and Gas from 2011 to 2012 with MDPI and Goodwill International.
Born on October 21, 1979, in Bole, located in the Savannah Region of Ghana, Yussif holds an MBA in International Oil and Gas Management from the University of Dundee, Scotland, earned in 2011. He also obtained a BSc in Accounting from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), in 2009, and is a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ghana.
Before his appointment, some stakeholders in the tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors had suggested that the deputy ministerial role for the ministry be eliminated, citing the limited impact such appointments can have. However, others, including those in the creative industry, advocated for the role, with musician Rex Omar and creative entrepreneur Baba Sadiq mentioned as potential candidates.
Yussif Jajah takes over from music executive Mark Okraku-Mantey, who served as the deputy minister during the second term of the Akufo-Addo administration. He will work alongside Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the seasoned creative and Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, as the Deputy Minister.
Meanwhile: Actor and broadcaster Nana Gyasi Owusu, widely recognized as 'NGO,' recently claimed the Best Lead Actor in a Comedy/Drama Series award at the Ghana Movie Awards for his role in Kejetia vs Makola. This marks his second victory for the role—he previously won Best Supporting Actor for the same TV drama in 2019.
For the actor, this latest accolade is a significant career boost. "This is a reward for my hard work over the years and will inspire me to do even more in the years ahead," Nana Gyasi remarked. Continue from here.
