Ghanaian reggae artist Ras Kuuku has raised doubts about Nacee’s classification as a gospel musician.

In an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Ras Kuuku expressed his disagreement with the TGMA Board's decision to restrict the gospel categories exclusively to gospel artists. When asked why artists like himself wouldn't be eligible to compete in these categories, He questioned Nacee’s gospel credentials.

“Nacee is not a gospel musician; he’s a producer,” Ras Kuuku stated.

DJ Slim pointed out that Nacee has both produced and performed numerous gospel songs. However, Ras Kuuku responded by highlighting Nacee’s involvement in secular music, such as "Kwen Kwen," a track he made for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) political party.

In addition to his gospel contributions, Nacee is also recognized for his secular hits like "Boys Boys," "Dondo," and "Paddy Paddy," among others.

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) defines the "Best Gospel Song" category as a title awarded to the song deemed by the Academy, Board, and public to be the most popular Christian song released during the review period. It further notes that only songs performed by gospel artists qualify for this category.

Meanwhile, Ras Kuuku believes his song "Me Mpaebo" is one of the biggest gospel tracks to be released in the past decade.

Ras Kuuku’s comments suggest that Nacee’s involvement in secular music may have led to a mixed perception of his brand among his audience.
