As the date for this year’s Ghana Dance Industry Awards (GHADI) approaches, discussions about who should take home awards in the various categories are heating up.
One of the most anticipated categories, Dancer of the Year, has already sparked controversy. The nominees for this prestigious award are Dancegod Llyod, Afronitaaa, Endurance Grand, Incredible Zigi, Bboy Lyricx, and Ezunte Flex.
Supporters of the nominees have been active on social media, sharing their backing for their favourites and highlighting the dancers' contributions to the industry over the past year.
Other categories up for grabs include Dance Athlete of the Year, Traditional Dance Group of the Year, Street Dance Group of the Year, and Praise Dance Group of the Year.
In addition, several honorary awards will be presented to key figures within Ghana's dance community, recognizing their significant impact on the industry.
The GHADI Awards aim to celebrate Ghanaian dance icons and stakeholders who have made remarkable contributions to the development of dance over the past year.
The event is set to bring together all major players in the dance world, with live performances slated for the grand ceremony.
The inaugural edition in 2021 honoured legendary figures such as Adjetey Sowah, Akosua Agyapong, Reggie Rockstone, Terry Bright Ofosu, and others, along with 20 other influential dance personalities and institutions.
The 2025 Ghana Dance Industry Awards, the second annual event, will be held at the National Theatre on February 8, 2025.

Meanwhile: Ghanaian reggae artist Ras Kuuku has raised doubts about Nacee’s classification as a gospel musician.
In an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Ras Kuuku expressed his disagreement with the TGMA Board's decision to restrict the gospel categories exclusively to gospel artists. When asked why artists like himself wouldn't be eligible to compete in these categories, He questioned Nacee’s gospel credentials.
