China has strongly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to displace the people of Gaza from their homeland forcibly.
In a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that Trump was overstepping his bounds, emphasizing that Gaza is not part of the United States.
Guo reminded Trump that Gaza is the rightful territory of the Palestinian people, not a political bargaining tool. He asserted, “Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people. It is an inalienable part of the territory of Palestine, not a bargaining chip for political games.”
Further, Jiakun stressed that Palestine should not become a victim of powerful nations, pointing out that the ongoing conflict has already left Gaza devastated and suffering. He urged the international community, especially major countries, to work together to improve Gaza’s situation by providing humanitarian aid and supporting its reconstruction.
Jiakun reaffirmed China’s commitment to upholding the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people. He emphasized that the principle of “Palestinians governing Palestine” should be respected in the post-conflict governance of Gaza, opposing the forced displacement of its people.
He said China is ready to collaborate with the international community to pursue a two-state solution as the primary path forward and to seek a fair political resolution to the Palestinian issue. This includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty, based on the 1967 borders, and with East Jerusalem as its capital.
