President John Dramani Mahama is set to receive the much-anticipated report from the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) Committee today, Monday, February 10, 2024.

The announcement was made by Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a presidential advisor and close aide to President Mahama, through a post on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

The ORAL Committee was established by the president as a key initiative in his administration’s fight against corruption and financial mismanagement. The primary objective of the committee is to track and recover state funds that were lost due to misappropriation. This initiative aligns with one of Mahama’s major campaign promises—ensuring accountability and safeguarding national resources.

Political analysts and anti-corruption experts view this report as a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to combat financial malfeasance. The findings are expected to shed light on the scale of state resource losses and expose individuals or entities responsible for these irregularities.

Once President Mahama reviews the report, he will determine the next course of action. The findings may be forwarded to the Attorney General for possible prosecution, or other strategic measures may be taken based on the committee’s recommendations.

The ORAL Committee’s work has attracted widespread public interest, with many citizens and anti-corruption organizations eagerly awaiting decisive action against those implicated. The transparency and efficiency of the recovery process will be crucial in reinforcing trust in government accountability mechanisms.

The committee is chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu. Other notable members include:

  • Daniel Domelevo – Former Auditor-General
  • Nathaniel Kofi Boakye – Retired Commissioner of Police
  • Martin Kpebu – Prominent private legal practitioner
  • Raymond Archer – Investigative journalists

The inclusion of these high-profile individuals signals the seriousness of the government’s approach to addressing corruption. With their expertise, the committee was expected to conduct a thorough investigation and make concrete recommendations for action.

The report’s release marks a critical step toward enforcing accountability and restoring public confidence in state institutions. Moving forward, all eyes will be on President Mahama and how his administration acts on the committee’s findings.
