Kylian Mbappe, one of football's most celebrated talents, has crafted a career not only marked by his incredible athleticism but also by high-profile controversies and lucrative deals. A World Cup champion by 19, Mbappe’s rise to fame has been nothing short of meteoric. By 24, he became Paris Saint-Germain's all-time top scorer, and by 25, he had achieved his dream of joining Real Madrid, one of the most prestigious clubs in football.

Mbappe’s footballing journey began at the prestigious Clairefontaine Academy, but it was at AS Monaco where he truly caught the world’s attention. His impressive debut season in 2015 and his stunning performances in the 2016-17 Champions League earned him a move to PSG in 2017 for a jaw-dropping £150million. Despite winning numerous domestic titles, the Champions League, the ultimate goal, eluded him, even though PSG reached the final in 2020.

Real Madrid's pursuit of Mbappe has been long and public. The Spanish giants have been keen to sign the French forward ever since his breakout at Monaco, with club president Florentino Perez eyeing him as the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo. In 2022, many believed Mbappe was set to join Madrid, but in an unexpected turn, he opted to stay at PSG, signing a lucrative contract extension. However, in the summer of 2024, Mbappe made the move to Madrid, joining on a free transfer and with the hope of finally capturing the Champions League trophy.

Beyond his football career, Mbappe has built an impressive financial portfolio. As of 2024, his net worth is estimated to be £200million, with a significant portion of his wealth coming from his football earnings and brand partnerships. At PSG, he earned nearly £65million annually, ranking among the highest-paid footballers globally. His 2024 move to Madrid saw a reported pay cut, but he still received a substantial £120million signing-on fee spread over five years. His total earnings, including sponsorships, are reported at around £72.5million annually.

Mbappe has invested wisely, holding an 80% stake in Ligue 2 club SM Caen, along with owning a media company, Zebra Valley, and becoming a shareholder in the electronics brand Loewe. His endorsements are extensive, including long-term partnerships with Nike, Hublot, and Oakley, among others.

However, Mbappe's career has not been without drama. His on-field disputes with former PSG teammates Neymar and Lionel Messi have often fueled rumors of tensions within the squad. Furthermore, his transfer negotiations with PSG were frequently in the public eye, and he is currently involved in a legal dispute with his former club over unpaid wages, adding to the controversy surrounding his career.
