President John Dramani Mahama has taken a bold step toward fulfilling his promises by inaugurating a 19-member task force dedicated to delivering on his 120-day social contract with Ghanaians. This task force will play a crucial role in ensuring that key policies aimed at improving governance, fighting corruption, and easing economic burdens are effectively implemented.

One of the major focuses of the team is “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL), an anti-corruption initiative designed to track and recover misused state funds while holding those responsible accountable. The President made it clear that transparency and accountability will be the foundation of his leadership.

“We have carefully chosen the policies we believe can be achieved in 120 days,” President Mahama assured Ghanaians. “This isn’t just about making promises—it’s about delivering real results that people can see and feel in their daily lives.”

What’s in the 120-Day Social Contract?

The social contract is a set of priority actions that the Mahama administration is committed to achieving in the first four months. Some of the key promises include:

Filling Key Government Positions Quickly – A full list of cabinet ministers will be announced within two weeks to ensure a smooth start.

A Lean and Efficient Government – Mahama is determined to run a government that is smaller and more effective than ever before.

Strict Code of Conduct for Public Officials – Every appointee will be held to high ethical standards to restore public confidence in leadership.

A National Economic Dialogue – The government will bring together stakeholders to discuss practical solutions for Ghana’s economic challenges.

Eliminating Burdensome Taxes – The administration plans to scrap taxes such as the E-Levy, COVID-19 levy, and the betting tax to ease financial pressure on citizens.

During a meeting with religious leaders known as the Apostolic Fathers, President Mahama received words of encouragement and prayers for wisdom and strength. Archbishop Duncan Williams, one of the key figures at the gathering, reminded him of the responsibility he holds in shaping Ghana’s future and urged him to focus on transformational leadership.

With this task force in place, Ghanaians are watching closely to see how these promises unfold in the coming months. Many are hopeful that this will mark the beginning of a new era of accountability, economic relief, and good governance.
