Ken Ofori-Atta Should Carry His Own Cross Sed By Old Tafo MP
Old Tafo Member of Parliament Vincent Ekow Assafuah has reacted to the corruption allegations against Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a suspect in four high-profile corruption investigations, including cases related to the National Cathedral project, Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML), and two other cases.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng stated that Ofori-Atta is now a wanted person and must return to Ghana immediately to face questioning.
He warned that failure to comply would result in steps being taken to compel his return.
The announcement has stirred significant discussions in the political landscape of the country. The majority of New Patriotic Party Members of Parliament have kicked against the suggestion that Ken Ofori-Atta has absconded from Ghana to avoid accountability, insisting that he has travelled to seek medical treatment.
But in a post captured on the Facebook page of Accra-based GHone TV, Vincent Ekow Assafuah says the Former Finance Minister should be made to carry his own cross. The Old Tafo lawmaker was part of the NPP legislators who wanted Ken Ofori-Atta to be booted out of office.
They questioned his capabilities to get the country out of the woods, calling on then-President Nana Akufo Addo to sack him before his actions sent the party to the opposition.
His sentiment towards the corruption case against Ken Ofori-Atta demonstrates that he was not pleased with his performance as the manager of the public purse.
