Alcaraz Secures Late Winner as Everton Triumph Over Crystal Palace

Carlos Alcaraz made a significant impact on his first Premier League start for Everton, scoring a late winner to secure a crucial victory against Crystal Palace. The Argentine midfielder, who joined the Toffees on loan from Flamengo in January, capitalized on a fortunate deflection from Will Hughes to slot home Ashley Young’s low drive with just 10 minutes left in the match. Earlier in the game, Everton had taken the lead in the first half through in-form striker Beto, who finished calmly after receiving a precise pass from Alcaraz. However, Palace came close to equalizing when Ismaila Sarr’s powerful shot struck the underside of the crossbar, serving as an early warning sign for Everton’s defense.

The home side eventually found a way back into the game in the second half, with Jean-Philippe Mateta leveling the score after a lengthy VAR review confirmed he was onside. Palace looked threatening before halftime, even believing they had taken the lead when Jefferson Lerma’s header found the net, only for the goal to be disallowed due to the ball going out of play before reaching him. Everton, determined to reclaim their advantage, pressed forward, with Jesper Lindstrom forcing Dean Henderson into a brilliant one-handed save. Beto also had another opportunity but directed his shot straight at the Palace goalkeeper, missing a chance to put his side back in front.

Everton’s persistence paid off when Alcaraz netted the decisive goal, securing a well-deserved victory for David Moyes’ side. The win marks Everton’s fourth triumph in five league matches, highlighting their impressive resurgence under Moyes. This result sees the Toffees move level on points with Crystal Palace, who remain in 12th place due to their superior goal difference. The match showcased Everton’s growing confidence and determination, while Palace will need to bounce back quickly to maintain their mid-table position in the Premier League standings.
