Trace, the Afro-urban music and culture platform, has revealed that the second edition of its awards ceremony will take place in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The event is scheduled for February 24 to 26, 2025, and will be hosted at the luxurious Mora 5-star Resort.

The announcement was made during a media briefing earlier this week in Lagos. The three-day event will kick off with a two-day summit featuring insightful panel discussions and masterclasses on topics related to the African creative industries, technology, and branding.

The grand awards night, set for February 26, will be broadcast live across 25 Trace channels and streamed in over 200 countries, including English, French, and Portuguese-speaking regions.

Sam Onyemelukwu, Senior Vice President of Global Business Development at Trace, spoke at the event, highlighting the awards' importance in promoting African music culture.

"We've been working on this for many years before hosting the first edition last year. Trace must host an award show because the culture born from the streets of Lagos has spread worldwide, and a brand like Trace must elevate it to the same level as the Grammys or MTV Awards. We have played a key role in the music industry, especially in afrobeats and amapiano. We cannot let others claim ownership of that culture; we had to step up, play our part, and stand up for Africa,” Onyemelukwu said.

The awards aim to celebrate the diversity and excellence of African music, encompassing genres such as afrobeats, dancehall, hip-hop, afro-pop, amapiano, soukous, gospel, RnB, and more.

Meanwhile: Nollywood actress and filmmaker Temidayo Babatunde has stressed that beauty alone is not sufficient for success in the film industry.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, Babatunde acknowledged the significance of physical appearance but emphasized that talent is essential for long-term success.

"Beauty alone isn't enough. While beauty is important, talent is equally vital because it opens doors and allows you to sit with kings and queens. Talent and beauty complement each other, and neither can stand alone," she said. Continue here.....
