Nedu attributed his departure to “unfounded accusations” and the negative impact on his peace of mind and family. The statement read: “In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself. I have always been committed to honest conversations, but when those conversations lead to relentless attacks and misrepresentation, it becomes clear that stepping back is the best course of action.”

He continued, “I sincerely hope this decision brings an end to the negativity surrounding my name and allows The Honest Bunch Podcast to continue thriving. I remain committed to fostering a dialogue that encourages meaningful engagement and growth, and I look forward to new opportunities that align with that vision.”

The Controversy Unfolds

The drama began after an episode of The Honest Bunch featuring former Big Brother Naija contestant Aderombi Martin (Deeone) went viral. During the discussion, Deeone accused social media personality Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan, VDM) of being involved in same-sex relationships and accepting money for sexual favours.

VDM responded angrily, but instead of confronting Deeone, he targeted Nedu, claiming Nedu had given a platform for such accusations. He shared their WhatsApp conversations, revealing that Nedu had been trying to book him on the podcast since 2024. VDM accused Nedu of tarnishing his name through Deeone after his attempts to get closer to Nedu failed.

VDM also claimed that Nedu had spoken openly about his past relationships with women featured on his show, suggesting that some had been given opportunities in exchange for sexual favours. VDM named two influencers, Saida Boj and Jojooflele, sparking even more backlash online.

The Drama Escalates

VDM escalated the issue by releasing WhatsApp screenshots, allegedly showing Nedu offering him a car in exchange for an appearance on the podcast. He also criticized The Honest Bunch Podcast for prioritizing views over truth, alleging that guests either paid to appear or were paid to stir controversy.

VDM went on to accuse Nedu of speaking negatively about several female personalities, including Nons Miraj and Ashmusy, and calling Saida Boj “cheap,” while accusing her of misleading young women. He urged Saida to clarify the claims and invited Jojooflele to collaborate on resolving the misunderstandings.

Jojooflele Denies Affair Claims

After VDM's accusations, Jojooflele posted a tearful video denying any affair with Nedu. Later, in a TikTok live chat, VDM apologized to her for involving her in the controversy and clarified that his claims were based solely on Nedu’s words. VDM then invited Jojooflele for another live chat, where he further discussed his allegations against Nedu.

Saida Boj Responds

Saida Boj also reacted to the unfolding drama, asking VDM to prove his innocence rather than divert attention to his ongoing conflict with Nedu.

Deeone Defends Nedu

Following Nedu's resignation, Deeone shared a video on Instagram, pleading for public intervention and declaring Nedu’s innocence. He accused VDM of manipulating the situation and called on prominent Nigerians such as Davido, Don Jazzy, and Peter Obi to assist Nedu in overcoming the mental distress caused by the ordeal.

More Threats

VDM threatened to expose more names and private information, insisting that Nedu had been sacked, not that he resigned voluntarily. Meanwhile, Deeone promised to continue defending Nedu, hinting at future TV interviews where he would expose VDM’s lies.

Public Reactions

Nedu's resignation drew mixed reactions. Media personality Ossai Success expressed disappointment, calling Nedu “weak” for stepping down. He argued that VDM's statements violated Nedu's privacy and encouraged Nedu to stand up for himself rather than accept the resignation. "If I were Nedu, I wouldn't let Very Dark Man go free. I would fight to the end," Success wrote.
