SHAN GEORGE ADVISES SINGLES TO LOOK INTO THEIR PARTNER’S FAMILY BEFORE GETTING MARRIED

Veteran actress, singer, and film producer Shan George has urged both women and men to thoroughly investigate the family backgrounds of their partners before marriage.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, George emphasized the importance of speaking out, as long as the information is truthful and not simply an attempt to gain attention or tarnish someone’s reputation.

She noted, “Our culture tends to give more authority to men in the household, which allows many perpetrators of domestic violence and spousal abuse to go unpunished. Often, the abused partner may hesitate to take action, especially because love and children are involved.”

George advised that, like in the past, people should look into their partner’s family history, genotype, and other relevant factors before marriage. She highlighted that some of the issues causing pressure, which can escalate into abuse, are often rooted in the family lineage.

She also expressed support for the public’s outrage and the actions taken by authorities in response to murder and abuse cases in Nigeria.

“There has been a strong reaction to such incidents,” she said, “and it’s understandable, given the trauma felt by both the parent who lost a child and the parent whose child has committed such an act. I believe this outrage helps draw attention to the situation, and once the security agents take over, it’s normal for people to step back—unless there’s a sense of injustice in how the case is handled.”

Meanwhile: Media personality and talk show host, Chinedu Ani, known as Nedu, stunned his fans by stepping down from The Honest Bunch Podcast on February 13, 2025. He shared a press release on his social media accounts, explaining his decision.

Nedu attributed his departure to “unfounded accusations” and the negative impact on his peace of mind and family. The statement read: “In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself. Continue the story here...
