Controversial Nigerian artist, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has been granted bail by the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta after being arraigned on charges of assault and obstructing government officials.

Portable, who had voluntarily surrendered to the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) on Wednesday following a warrant issued by the Ogun State Police Command, was transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters in Eleweran before being brought to court on Thursday.

He faced five charges, including conspiracy, assault, obstruction, possession of cutlasses and firearms, and conduct likely to cause harm. The singer pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Portable’s legal representative, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, requested bail, stating that the singer was "remorseful and had learned his lesson."

Magistrate O. L. Oke granted bail to Portable in the amount of N2 million with one surety of equal value and adjourned the case until March 5 for trial.

In addition to Portable, nine of his associates were also arraigned on similar charges. The accused, including Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26), were charged with felony, assault, obstruction, and conduct likely to breach public peace.

The Ogun State Government had previously condemned Portable’s alleged actions, labelling him a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal.”

The charges stem from a February 5, 2025, incident, where Portable and his associates are accused of attacking three town planners—Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero—while they were performing their official duties at Portable’s Odogwu Bar in the Sango area of Ogun State.

Meanwhile: Nigerian-born British actress Cynthia Erivo has been cast as Jesus in the upcoming production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl.

The exciting news was announced on Wednesday through the official Hollywood Bowl Instagram account, celebrating Erivo's impressive career, which includes an Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award, as well as three Academy Award nominations. Read more here.....
