Sammy Gyamfi Reflects on Hiatus Following NDC’s 2024 Election Victory
Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has shed light on his decision to take a break from the media after the party's decisive victory in the 2024 general elections. Gyamfi, who played a pivotal role in the NDC’s campaign, withdrew from public engagements following the landslide win on December 7. He explained that while the victory was a cause for celebration, it also presented an opportunity for deep reflection on the enormous responsibility Ghanaians had placed on the party. In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Gyamfi emphasized that stepping back was necessary to rest and prepare for the work ahead, as the NDC remains committed to fulfilling its promises to the people. He highlighted the significance of the party's mandate, noting that it required careful planning and execution to meet the expectations of the electorate.
Gyamfi, who currently serves as the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), expressed surprise at the margin of victory, stating that he had not anticipated President John Mahama winning by such a wide margin of 1.7 million votes. According to him, the overwhelming support from Ghanaians underscored the trust placed in the NDC to deliver on their campaign promises. He reiterated that the party could not afford to let the people down, echoing President Mahama’s stance on accountability and good governance. Reflecting on the intense campaign period, Gyamfi acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the party’s members and supporters, emphasizing that the victory was a collective effort. He assured that the party remains focused on its agenda for national development and is determined to implement policies that will bring positive change to the country.
Additionally, Gyamfi expressed profound gratitude to President Mahama for giving him the opportunity to serve in the administration. He reaffirmed his commitment to working diligently to ensure the success of the government’s agenda.
