Vinicius Jr Committed to Real Madrid Despite Saudi Interest
Vinicius Jr has reaffirmed his commitment to Real Madrid, declaring that he is "living the dream" at the club and is eager to extend his contract. The Brazilian forward, who has two years left on his current deal, has been linked with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League.
However, the 24-year-old dismissed the speculation, saying, “I am very calm because my contract lasts until 2027, and I hope to renew it as soon as possible because I am happy here.”
Since joining from Flamengo in 2018, Vinicius has become a key player for Los Blancos, winning three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies. He has scored 102 goals in 300 appearances for the club and remains focused on creating a lasting legacy.
“My childhood dream was to play here. Now that I’ve made it, I am writing my story. I have won, but I can still win much more and make history at this club,” he added.
Ballon d’Or Controversy
Vinicius also addressed his absence from the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony, where he finished behind Manchester City’s Rodri. Real Madrid reportedly boycotted the event after learning their star forward would not win the award.
“I did what the club told me to do. They asked me to stay in Madrid, so I calmly stayed. Now we wait for the next one,” he explained.
Despite narrowly missing out, Vinicius remains optimistic about future individual and team accolades. “I never dreamed of winning the Ballon d’Or, but when you get close, you want it. However, I am here to win more Champions League titles, and that is more important.”
As Real Madrid prepares to face Atletico Madrid in their Champions League last-16 tie, Vinicius is determined to continue proving his worth and cementing his place among the club’s greats.
