After more than a month Kumasi Asante Kotoko got back in action against Legon cities at the Baba Yara sports Stadium. Legon cities were the first club to beat them this season and poor results continued after that. More importantly the game started with a minute of silence for the lost soul. The porcupines also display a banner in honour of Nana Yaw. This was also the debut start for Asante Kotoko's new left back, Daniel Adrian Adjetey who stepped in for the injured Lord Amoah.
Game began with much flair, as Kotoko had the upper hand in the Earl minute. The first yellow card went to kwaku Many of legon cities after foul a Kotoko player closer to their 18 yard box. And from no where defender Patrick Aseidu score a spectacular goal to take Kotoko into the lead in the 28th minute of the game. The away side came close in the 35th minute but striker William Adjei could not find the back of the net. Once Cities struck a shot from outside the box, which really got Fredrick Asare to work. Few moments after that they made made two substitutions that nearly led to an equalizer for them. Coach Ogum also reacted by substituting Daniel Adrian for Michael Sefa. The first half ended 1-0 in favor of the home side. Asante Kotoko brought in Issac Mintah for Baba Yahaya in the 63rd minute. Henry Kwame Ansu came into the match on the 79th minute to replace the injured Joseph Ablorh. Unfortunately Issac Mintah missed a big chance in the 73rd minute, that could double the lead for the porcupines. The game became balance and looked like legon cities where about to equalise, when a hand ball was spotted in the 18 yard box of the Royals, and the referee with consultation of his assistant ref gave the penalty, which was beautifully converted by Kwame Poku on the 87th minute.
