Paris Saint-Germain defeated Liverpool in a penalty shootout using a new technique.

Paris Saint-Germain eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League with a penalty shootout victory after Ousmane Dembele's first-half strike triggered spot-kicks at Anfield. Liverpool fans and spectators at home were perplexed when a Paris Saint-Germain fan used a loudhailer to cheer his club on in Tuesday's Champions League penalty shootout at Anfield.

Ousmane Dembele scored the game's sole goal after 120 minutes on Merseyside, cancelling out Harvey Elliott's first-leg victory at the Parc des Princes. Dembele was also one of four visitor players to score in the shootout, as Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones both missed from 12 yards for the Premier League club. During the spot kicks, one fan appeared to be using a loudhailer to motivate PSG and frighten Liverpool. He whipped up the visiting fans at the end where the penalties were taken, yelling the names of PSG stars and producing a different kind of noise when the hosts' players came up.

The shenanigans were captured during Amazon Prime's coverage of the match. A number of followers on social media shared their thoughts on the behaviour. "Tell me how I can't take a water bottle into the ground but this PSG fan in the front row got a flippin loudhailer," one fan wrote on social media. "Considering how we're treated on euro aways we don't half give visiting euro fans some freedom," commented still another. "No excuses but I'd love to know how a PSG fan was allowed a loudhailer speaker into Anfield it literally had like a fire alarm sound on it too," said to a third individual. Those who were not Liverpool supporters appeared to appreciate the shenanigans.

"That PSG fan with the loudhailer behind the goal was the man of the match," one fan remarked, while another commented, "We need more sirens wailing during penalty shootouts." Other tweets stated that while the usage of a loudhailer by PSG fans is not unprecedented, its deployment in a European penalty shootout was a new occurrence.
