Mohamed Salah has reportedly made himself available to Barcelona after contract negotiations with Liverpool have stalled. However, for the move to materialize, the cash-strapped Catalan club would need the Ballon d'Or contender to accept a substantial pay cut.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?

Contract discussions between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool appear to have hit a deadlock, with the Egyptian forward's current deal set to expire at the end of the season. According to a report from SPORT, Salah has expressed interest in joining Barcelona, but this transfer hinges on his willingness to lower his salary significantly.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Recently, there have been suggestions that Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, was interested in signing Salah's Liverpool teammate, Luis Diaz, as the ideal addition to their left flank. However, it now seems that pursuing Salah could be a more feasible option for all involved. The 32-year-old currently earns nearly €18 million per season, making him one of the top earners in the Premier League. Yet, due to Barcelona's financial struggles and uncertainties surrounding their compliance with the 1:1 salary rule, he would need to accept a reduced wage if he were to join the club.

DID YOU KNOW?

In a recent interview with Liverpool legend Steve McManaman, Salah hinted that his time at Anfield might be nearing its end. He expressed a desire for fans to remember his dedication: "I want fans to remember that I gave it all to the fans. I gave it all to the city. I was here, I wasn't lazy; I just enjoyed my football and gave it all."

WHAT'S NEXT FOR MOHAMED SALAH?

Liverpool supporters will need to be patient for updates on Salah's future. Meanwhile, the former Roma and Chelsea winger is set to compete in the EFL Cup Final against Newcastle on Sunday, March 16, following their Champions League clash with PSG on Tuesday night. Salah has already contributed over 50 goals in just over 40 matches this season, showcasing what could be his best year yet as he helps keep Liverpool in contention for the Premier League, Champions League, and EFL Cup titles.
