Fast-rising rapper Kweku Flick has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaian rap legend Sarkodie for believing in his talent and giving him a major career boost.
The young artiste shot into the spotlight after delivering a standout performance on Sarkodie’s Messiah in December 2024, earning him massive recognition in the music industry. Reflecting on the experience, Kweku Flick, born Andy Osei Sarfo, credits Sarkodie for trusting him with the opportunity.
Sarkodie’s Influence on His Career
In an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz, Kweku Flick revealed that his admiration for Sarkodie goes way back, even before he entered the mainstream music scene.
> “Sarkodie has always been one of my biggest inspirations. Before I even started music, I was a huge fan of his work and lifestyle. Our bond became stronger when I realized he was close friends with my uncle.”
According to Flick, Sarkodie’s mentorship has shaped his career, teaching him the value of hard work and professionalism.
> “One thing I’ve learned from him is his discipline and dedication to music. He doesn’t play when it comes to his craft, and that’s something I admire.”
Keeping the Asaaka Wave Alive
The Bye Bye hitmaker has been a key figure in Ghana’s Drill music scene, popularly known as Asaaka. His latest single, Yaayi, aims to reignite the movement, which some believe has lost momentum.
However, Kweku Flick insists the Asaaka wave is still alive.
> “People think the movement has slowed down, but that’s not true. We are all focused on our individual careers, but the energy is still there.”
On Comparisons with Kwesi Arthur
Despite his unique style, Kweku Flick has often been compared to rapper Kwesi Arthur, with some critics accusing him of copying the Grind Day star.
Shutting down the rumors, he clarified that he shares a strong relationship with Kwesi Arthur.
> “Kwesi has been supportive since day one. People assume we don’t get along, but that’s far from the truth. He recently did something for me that I never expected, and it made me appreciate him even more.”
As Kweku Flick continues to rise, his gratitude to Sarkodie remains unwavering. With his undeniable talent and dedication, he is set to make an even greater impact in the industry.
