Stephen Curry Becomes First NBA Player to Reach 4,000 Three-Pointers

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has once again etched his name in NBA history by becoming the first player to make 4,000 career three-pointers. The historic milestone came during the Warriors' dominant 130-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Curry, who already held the record for the most three-pointers in league history, needed just two more from beyond the arc to reach this remarkable achievement. The 37-year-old sharpshooter accomplished the feat in the third quarter, drawing praise from Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr, who compared Curry’s graceful movement on the court to that of a ballerina. Kerr described Curry’s play as more than just basketball, calling it a form of art that captivates audiences with its beauty and fluidity.

Curry’s record-breaking moment was met with a tribute on the big screen during a timeout, acknowledging his contributions to the game. Reflecting on the milestone, the four-time NBA champion expressed disbelief and gratitude, admitting that he never imagined pushing the three-point record to such heights. He initially became the NBA’s all-time leader in 2021, surpassing Ray Allen’s previous record of 2,973 at Madison Square Garden. Since then, he has continued to redefine the three-point shooting era, holding multiple records, including the two longest streaks for consecutive games with at least one three-pointer made (268 and 157 games). His latest achievement further cements his legacy as the greatest shooter in NBA history.

Curry’s performance against the Kings, which took place a day before his 37th birthday, saw him finish with 11 points and five assists, contributing to the Warriors' sixth consecutive win. The victory moved Golden State to sixth place in the Western Conference standings, while the Kings remain in ninth. As Curry continues to build on his legendary career, the only active player remotely close to his three-point tally is Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden, who sits in second place with 3,120 three-pointers. While Kerr acknowledged that Curry’s record could one day be broken, he emphasized that his style, impact, and influence on the game will remain unmatched.
